Neil's cheeks flame with heat, an outrageous flush brought on by an equally outrageous gesture. He stands still for a moment, tilting his head a little to glance over his shoulder and check, again, if anyone's nearby or looking at them.

He can't help that his hips lurch forward. Barely a touch, and he can feel himself stirring inside his slacks.

"Gabe," he hisses quietly.

Neil tries to keep Gabriel close. Now, for different reasons, he's grateful for the shadows and darkness of hiding. Gabriel can't see his face and how much he longs to linger, close and terrified of going back out there. But Gabriel's already standing, and so Neil goes as well, brushing off his hands and then wiping off the seat of his pants.

His voice wobbles on a noise when he tries to speak, and the words die, so he's just left standing there with his mouth slightly open, shame creeping in the edges and driving his chin toward his chest.

Gabriel stays close, close enough to hear the soft sound Neil makes. His fingers curl loosely against Neil's lapels and he doesn't want to go back out there; he's suddenly lost the mood for being at the dance entirely.

But he doesn't want Neil to think he's the reason that he wants to go. "You alright?" he asks, quiet and just for them.

"Yeah." It takes Neil a second to say, but he gets it out. His hands come up and he touches Gabriel's wrists, brushes his thumb on the skin, and breathes out. Patricia's out there, and she probably wants to dance, and that's fine. He ought to be out there too.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just need some punch, I think."

Gabriel nods and he eases back, slowly, reluctantly. He wants to kiss Neil again but he just-- he doesn't know what the rules are. He lightly squeezes Neil's hand before he lets go, sort of moving backwards towards the rest of the dance.

Maybe the music will put him back in the mood to dance. Even if it's with Sarah.
