There's a certain irony in one describing themself old-fashioned to someone who was probably born just around the same time, or a little later than. Neil smiles a bit. He thinks the big thing is just that Neil is younger, whether by chronology or deliverance.

"I was at a boarding school before I was here," he explains. "We had to have chaperones to go off campus, and we weren't allowed music or television in the dormitory. Distraction from education and God and all that."
