She had asked the question in confusion, in the hope of clarification, but as the shock and hurt break over Neil's face Rosie realizes what she's done. No--not what she's done, because the blame for this can't be placed on her, though the twist of guilt she feels is still there, sick and heavy and aching. It's tempered soon enough by her own surprise, and no small amount of anger at the absolutely idiotic boy at the center of all of this.
